OSA 5422

Assured timing for critical infrastructure

Precise network timing has become increasingly important as mobile network operators upgrade infrastructure to support LTE Advanced and the continued evolution toward 5G. At the same time, critical infrastructure sectors including defense, power utilities, financial networks, broadcast systems and public safety communications are becoming increasingly dependent on highly accurate, resilient and secure synchronization architectures. The OSA 5422 mid-size PTP grandmaster is an advanced network timing platform engineered to deliver exceptional performance, reliability and operational simplicity. Featuring high-performance oscillator options, multi-band GNSS reception, advanced ePRTC capabilities, White Rabbit PTP support and advanced synchronization assurance, the OSA 5422 distributes precise time and frequency while supporting resilient PNT architectures for modern defense, telecom, finance and critical infrastructure applications.

Resilient timing

Advanced ePRTC capabilities combine multi-source timing, Iridium STL resilience and up to 150 days of holdover within 100ns to maintain assured synchronization in degraded or contested GNSS environments.
The OSA 5422 combines resilient timing, assured synchronization and operational intelligence in a flexible edge synchronization platform.

High-accuracy synchronization

Support for White Rabbit PTP and High Accuracy Time Transfer (HA-TT) enables sub-nanosecond synchronization for IEEE 1588-2019 networks and high-precision timing applications.

Resilient PNT architectures

The OSA 5422 combines high-performance oscillators with Oscilloquartz’s advanced timing algorithms to deliver precise synchronization across packet-based networks. Supporting SyncE, NTP, White Rabbit and IEEE 1588 PTP, including relevant telecom profiles, the platform efficiently distributes timing from the network edge, while ensuring that base stations and other time-sensitive network elements remain tightly synchronized to their master clock. The OSA 5422 is designed to support a wide range of timing-critical industries and infrastructure environments, including 5G mobile and telecom networks, defense and mission-critical systems, data centers, smart grids, transportation networks, financial trading infrastructure, broadcast environments and public safety communications. Resilient GNSS capabilities, including M-Code, Galileo PRS, Galileo OSNMA and Iridium STL, together with jamming and spoofing detection and mitigation, help maintain trusted synchronization across degraded and contested GNSS environments while strengthening assured PNT architectures.

Operational assurance

Mosaic Network Controller, Mosaic Sync Director and Syncjack™ synchronization monitoring provide network-wide timing management, assurance and operational visibility.

Built for evolving networks

With an expanded feature set, the OSA 5422 supports evolving synchronization requirements for modern packet networks and assured PNT architectures. These capabilities include synchronization delivery over IPv6, 10Gbit/s interfaces, support for ITU-T G.8275.2, advanced synchronization assurance technologies and highly accurate multi-band GNSS receivers designed for resilient timing architectures. Network Time Security (NTS), graceful recovery from holdover events, multi-source ePRTC combining, reference validation and UTC-traceable timing enable highly resilient synchronization infrastructures for telecom, defense and critical infrastructure applications. Combined with integrated Syncjack™ monitoring, modular expansion capabilities and optional OLED local management, the OSA 5422 delivers the operational flexibility required for evolving network environments.
