Bartek Kropiewnicki explores cyber threat-resilient ePRTC at PLNOG 2025
Session will discuss a time synchronization system that ensures accuracy within 100 nanoseconds for 100 days without an external reference
- Speakers: Bartek Kropiewnicki, product line manager at Oscilloquartz, Adtran
- Topics: 100-day challenge: secure time synchronization in a zero-trust world
- When: Tuesday, May 13, 12:15 p.m. CET
- Where: PLNOG 2025, Hotel Galaxy, Kraków, Poland https://plnog.pl
Critical infrastructure depends on precise timing from GNSS and NTP/PTP protocols. However, securely maintaining synchronization is becoming increasingly challenging due to rising threats from jamming and spoofing attacks and natural sources of interference. In response to this rapidly evolving threat landscape, Oscilloquartz developed a system that maintains holdover accuracy within 100 nanoseconds for 100 days.
In this session, Bartek Kropiewnicki will demonstrate an Oscilloquartz ePRTC that uses advanced algorithms and an optical cesium clock to ensure cyber threat resilience. He will reveal the technological challenges involved and explain mechanisms for verifying time sources in a zero-trust environment before presenting test results that confirm the solution’s suitability for deployment in critical infrastructure.
