Nir Laufer presents alternatives to temperature-sensitive, high-cost rubidium oscillators

ITSF presentation will discuss phase holdover performance and the ideal oscillator type for aggregation sites

  • Speakers: Nir Laufer, senior director, product line management, Oscilloquartz
  • Topics: The good, the bad and the ugly — phase holdover performance of super high-performance quartz oscillators versus rubidium atomic clocks
  • When: Wednesday, November 7, 11:50 a.m.
  • Where: ITSF 2018, Frequency & Time for F.U.N: Finance, Utilities and 5G Networks, Bucharest Grand Hotel, Bucharest, Romania

Temperature stability of oscillators is a critical factor in any optimized holdover solution. Tackling the question of selecting the right oscillator for long-term holdover situations, Nir Laufer lays out the case for preferring Super DOCXO over rubidium when a device is connected to GNSS and local environmental conditions mean temperature variations are expected.

In this presentation, Nir Laufer will detail the outcome of laboratory experiments testing different oscillators’ performance under real-world temperature variations, comparing stability, reliability and cost-efficiency.

As well as speaking sessions, Oscilloquartz will present live demos of key products in its portfolio of timing technology. These include showcases of the recently upgraded OSA 5401, a uniquely efficient small form-factor pluggable with the most compact design on the market, and the new OSA 5440, the ultra-scalable phase and time sync solution for the 5G era.
