Alon Stern presents the latest breakthroughs in resilient timing technologies at WSTS 2025

Session will examine how next-gen resiliency strategies enable precision in GNSS-limited conditions

  • Speakers: Alon Stern, senior manager of technology, Oscilloquartz, Adtran
  • Topics: Pushing the boundaries of holdover performance
  • When: Tuesday, May 13, 4:25 p.m.
  • Where: Workshop on Synchronization and Timing Systems, Savannah, Georgia, USA https://wsts.atis.org/

Modern networks are under increasing pressure to deliver precise and resilient timing, even when GNSS signals are degraded, intermittent or completely unavailable. As networks grow denser and more dynamic, achieving high resiliency has become essential – through extended holdover, as well as complementary time systems such as LEO-based timing.

In this session, Alon Stern will explore the latest strategies for strengthening timing resiliency. Topics will include the use of high-performance cesium clocks, leveraging multiple cesium references, managing intermittent GNSS disruptions and the integration of LEO constellations as an additional layer of protection. These innovations collectively push the boundaries of timing stability, ensuring accurate synchronization even under the most challenging operational conditions.
