Time for better broadcast and production networks

The transition to IP is taking place across all networks and the broadcasting and production industries are no exception. One of the key challenges that packet transformation raises in this area is synchronization, which is key for flexible and efficient video and audio streams. The move to IP replaces synchronous transport networks with asynchronous technology, and so a new approach for timing is needed.

Precision Time Protocol technology provides the ideal solution. Highly precise synchronization can be delivered over IP networks through timestamped packets, enabling time information to be processed for scale and accuracy. Resilience can be achieved with redundant grandmasters and standards compliance ensures interoperability and ease of operation.

Find out from our solution brief how our timing technology portfolio enables broadcasting networks to seamlessly migrate from established SDI architectures to future-proof IP networking. Read how our compact and versatile OSA 5401 and OSA 5405 grandmasters offer highly accurate time and frequency reference and are optimized to meet the most urgent timing needs of local and national broadcasters at their mobile sites and production studios.
