Nir Laufer discusses solutions for sub-100nsec 5G network timing at OFC

Presentation to explain how out-of-band optical timing channels can provide new levels of precision

  • Speaker: Nir Laufer, Oscilloquartz, ADVA
  • Topics: Timing and synchronization in optical networks for 5G transport
  • When: Tuesday, March 8, 4.30 p.m. PST
  • Where:  OFC, The Optical Networking and Communication Conference & Exhibition, San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, California, USA and virtual conference: https://www.ofcconference.org/en-us/home/registration/

In this session, Nir Laufer will review the options for delivering accurate timing using PTP and SyncE over OTN/WDM networks. The presentation will focus on robust mechanisms for delivering unprecedented levels of precision synchronization, including how a dedicated out-of-band optical timing channel can be leveraged to overcome technical and economical challenges and provide sub-100nsec accuracy.

The session will also discuss tackling GNSS vulnerabilities – including the growing threat of jamming and spoofing attacks – by ensuring robust backup from ePRTC core clocks to the aggregation site.  Register now for the in-person or virtual event beginning March 6.
